OUR CHURCH

We are a body of believers nestled between the mountains of Chattooga County, Georgia, trying to grow closer to Jesus Christ through the study of His word, worship, fellowship, and discipleship. Preserving and building a healthy community with both salt and light to the greater glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Hemphill AME Zion Church has been a part of the Summerville community for 135 years. It has served as a place of worship, meeting place, and safe haven for the African American community from its conception. We at Hemphill make sure the gospel word is shared with the poor, downtrodden, and everyone.

Today's Hemphill is still a place of hope and change. Our mission is to be a living witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by teaching and preaching salvation through Christ, assisting the impoverished and homeless to overcome the condition they find themselves in, and visiting the sick, shut-in, and imprisoned.
